Nancy Arnold discusses how she manages recovery between workout on low calories.

This third conversation in our series took place with Nancy on April 3, 2006, twenty-six days before her competition date. Here, I ask her about what recovery after workouts is like as she diets to lose as much subcutaneous body fat as possible before the competition. As anybody who lifts weights intensively knows, recovery is very dependent on nutrition. This dependency only becomes more pronounced as lifting intensity increases and caloric intake decreases. It is one of the central challenges of competing in bodybuilding, a sort of separator for those who can and cannot do it. Nancy discusses her strategies for recovering on low calories, including gutamine supplementation and massage.
