NCA Fitness — A new chapter for Nancy Arnold
In this podcast (Quicktime ipod compatible, 35MB; Google flash streaming video), Bud interviews me (Nancy Arnold) about my new personal fitness studio business.
NCA Fitness is a new venture and exciting new chapter for me. It is definitely something I have thought about pursuing for quite some time.
As Bud and I discuss in the podcast I have worked in the high school setting (Ann Arbor Pioneer and Canton High) training and conditioning athletes of all the sports programs. I was also in charge of injury rehabilitation.
While I was at Canton I also worked at a small personal training studio in Wyandotte. This studio had a unique feel and delivered specialized attention to all clients. People came because they wanted help, not because they needed help. They would work hard, listen and achieve their goals. I really enjoyed working in that atmosphere. Unfortunately, the owner had other things in mind and the studio did not make it. I then left Canton and began working at Liberty full time.
In the podcast Bud asks why I decided to return to the smaller, more individualized studio. I simply feel that I need to express more independence right now. I enjoy a personal challenge and I really feel that this is the right time. I enjoy helping people change their lives and would like to continue that with my own business.
NCA Fitness has literally been years in the making. My experience in various settings contirbutes to everything I can bring to NCA Fitness now.

- It takes about 100 clients to support a standalone personal training studio, roughly twice Nancy's current total. One thing making it possible for Nancy to start is that hers is a home business, requiring less capital outlay and expenses.
- Nancy has followed several of the recommendations in this guide to starting a personal training business.
